Cost-effective technical translation with the latest software solutions

Technical texts often have a high level of repetition and need to be updated and revised on a regular basis. Translation Memory software recognizes repetitions and similarities within documents and across separate documents and makes it possible for previously translated material to be reused. A database of source and target sentences (or segments) is created, and the software automatically suggests past identical and similar translations to the translator during the translation process. In this way, the translator is able to translate a higher volume in a shorter period of time, meaning a reduction in processing times and costs.

Tip! Optimise your source texts for greater benefits

Optimising your source texts prior to translation means that your documents can be processed more efficiently by our translation software, and a better quality Translation Memory can be created.

  • Documents should be monolingual; multilingual files require extensive pre- and post processing work.
  • Use language carefully: the text should be as precise, concise and clear as possible and filler words should be avoided e.g. "quite, perhaps, really".
  • The document should be well-structured with consistent formatting.
  • Hyperlinks, automatic tables of contents, indexes and numbering should be implemented and checked before translation.
  • Terminology should be clearly defined and used consistently, avoid synonyms or varying spellings e.g. device vs. component or webpage and web page.
  • Acronyms and abbreviations should be defined.
  • Images and graphics should be interculturally comprehensible and should not contain text.
  • Review the quality of the source text before translation. If written by non-natives, the source text should be proofread before translation.

How much does technical translation cost?

The price of your translation will depend on the number of words to be translated, the language combination, subject field and additional factors such as repetition rates, format and additional services required.
